Silver Oak Estate is one of OotyMade’s five named Nilgiris tea estates — producing a tea known for its particular aromatic brightness and clean, clear liquor. The Silver Oak cardamom blend takes this estate’s distinctive character and combines it with real ground elaichi in a 500g format designed for households that take their morning chai seriously.
The Silver Oak estate character — bright, clean, slightly more delicate than bold estates like Homewood — pairs particularly well with cardamom, whose aromatic top notes complement rather than overpower the tea’s natural fragrance.
- 🌿 Silver Oak Estate — Aromatic Nilgiris Character — Silver Oak produces a particularly aromatic, clean-liquor tea — its brightness makes cardamom flavours more vivid and the cup more fragrant.
- 💚 Real Ground Cardamom — Not elaichi flavouring. Ground cardamom blended in at the Nilgiris factory in proportions designed for the Silver Oak tea’s specific character.
- 📦 500g — Value for Serious Chai Households — The large format for families who drink cardamom chai daily. Better value per cup than smaller packs.
- 🏔️ Named Estate Traceability — Silver Oak is a specific Nilgiris estate. You know exactly where your tea comes from.
- 🎁 Popular Gift Size — The 500g format makes this an impressive and practical gift for tea-loving households.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How is Silver Oak Cardamom Tea different from the generic Nilgiris Cardamom Tea?
The base tea is different. Silver Oak is a specific named estate with its own aromatic character. The generic Nilgiris Cardamom Tea uses a blended base. Silver Oak’s estate character produces a more aromatic, cleaner cardamom chai experience.
Why is it only available in 500g?
The Silver Oak estate teas are packed in larger formats as they are the premium estate line — designed for committed tea households rather than trial purchases. The 500g ensures you have enough to fully appreciate the estate character over time.
Why Nilgiris Tea is Different
Why Nilgiris Tea is Different
The Nilgiris — India's Blue
Mountains — grows tea at 6,000 feet above sea level, where the combination of
cool temperatures (15–20°C year-round), two annual monsoons, and mineral-rich
volcanic soil creates growing conditions found nowhere else in India.
At this altitude, tea plants
grow more slowly. Slower growth concentrates the natural compounds —
polyphenols, catechins, aromatic oils — that give Nilgiris tea its
characteristic brightness, natural sweetness, and clean, clear liquor.
What makes OotyMade's tea range
unique is traceability. We source from named estates — Kannavarai, Homewood,
Darmona, Homedale, Silver Oak — so you know exactly which garden your tea comes
from. No anonymous blends. No imported material. Just the Blue Mountains.
All teas are packed fresh at source and dispatched within 48 hours of
your order.

SHELF LIFE: 12–18 months from
packing date when stored correctly.
All tea is packed fresh at
source and vacuum-sealed or airtight-sealed before dispatch.
STORAGE: Store in an airtight
container in a cool, dry place away from:
— Direct sunlight (degrades
chlorophyll and antioxidants)
— Moisture (causes mold and
off-flavors)
— Strong odours (tea absorbs
surrounding aromas rapidly)
— Heat above 30 degrees Celsius
BEST PRACTICE: Transfer to a
ceramic or glass airtight container on receipt.
A dedicated tea tin stored in a
kitchen cabinet is ideal.
SIGNS OF FRESHNESS: Fresh Nilgiris
tea has a bright, clean aroma on opening.
If the aroma has faded
significantly, the tea is past its prime — though still safe to consume.
