The same Kannavarai Estate, the same three-generation family craftsmanship — but ground to Gold Dust for those who need maximum strength, deep colour, and higher cup yield per kilogram. This is the blend that runs Nilgiris households that go through tea seriously.
Gold Dust CTC (Cut, Tear, Curl) creates a larger surface area per gram than estate-grade tea — more colour, more strength, more cups per kilo. The Nilgiris terroir character is still fully present: the brightness, the brisk aromatic note, the clean finish that makes Nilgiris tea distinct from Assam or Dooars blends.
⚡ Gold Dust Grade — Maximum Strength — Fine CTC grade produces deep colour and bold strength. Designed for those who want a seriously strong cup or who brew for a household or small business.
🏔️ Kannavarai Estate Origin — 1,700–2,100 metres altitude. The same prestigious estate as the Estate Blend, in a stronger commercial grade.
☕ Higher Cup Yield — More cups per kilogram than standard CTC grades — making Gold Dust the economical choice for regular household use.
🌿 Nilgiris Briskness Preserved — Even at commercial grade, the characteristic Nilgiris brightness and clean finish that distinguishes this tea from plains CTC is maintained.
📦 Fresh Packed, 48-Hour Dispatch — Sealed at source, dispatched within 48 hours of your order.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
When should I choose Gold Dust over the Estate Blend?
Choose Gold Dust when you need maximum strength, deep colour, and cost-efficiency over pure aroma. Perfect for households that drink 4+ cups daily, for office use, or for making strong filter chai. Choose the Estate Blend when you want maximum Nilgiris aroma and flavour complexity.
Is Gold Dust suitable for milk tea?
Absolutely — it is specifically calibrated for milk tea. The fine grade produces the deep amber colour that holds up beautifully to milk and sugar.
Why Nilgiris Tea is Different
Why Nilgiris Tea is Different
The Nilgiris — India's Blue
Mountains — grows tea at 6,000 feet above sea level, where the combination of
cool temperatures (15–20°C year-round), two annual monsoons, and mineral-rich
volcanic soil creates growing conditions found nowhere else in India.
At this altitude, tea plants
grow more slowly. Slower growth concentrates the natural compounds —
polyphenols, catechins, aromatic oils — that give Nilgiris tea its
characteristic brightness, natural sweetness, and clean, clear liquor.
What makes OotyMade's tea range
unique is traceability. We source from named estates — Kannavarai, Homewood,
Darmona, Homedale, Silver Oak — so you know exactly which garden your tea comes
from. No anonymous blends. No imported material. Just the Blue Mountains.
All teas are packed fresh at source and dispatched within 48 hours of
your order.

All tea is packed fresh at

— Direct sunlight (degrades
chlorophyll and antioxidants)
— Moisture (causes mold and
off-flavors)

surrounding aromas rapidly)
— Heat above 30 degrees Celsius
BEST PRACTICE: Transfer to a
ceramic or glass airtight container on receipt.
A dedicated tea tin stored in a
kitchen cabinet is ideal.

tea has a bright, clean aroma on opening.
