Korakundah is one of the highest tea estates in the world — located within the Chamraj Tea Estate in the Nilgiris at approximately 2,400 metres, this extreme altitude creates growing conditions so exceptional that Korakundah is recognised as one of India’s finest organic teas.
At 2,400 metres, tea plants grow under intense UV radiation, dramatic temperature swings between day and night, and minimal oxygen. The result: leaves with extraordinary compound concentration — polyphenols, catechins, and aromatic oils at levels that lowland estates cannot achieve. Korakundah tea is what happens when the Blue Mountains gives everything it has to a single cup.
- 🏔️ 2,400 Metres — One of the World’s Highest Tea Estates — Extreme altitude creates growing stress that concentrates antioxidant compounds, aromatic oils, and natural sweetness beyond any lower-elevation equivalent.
- 🌿 100% Certified Organic — No synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilisers. The pristine Nilgiris biosphere environment produces the tea; the certification confirms it.
- 🎋 25 Convenient Dip Bags (2g each) — The heritage estate quality in a convenient format for home, office, and travel. No loose leaf preparation needed.
- ✨ Bright, Brisk, Naturally Sweet — The extreme altitude produces a cup with exceptional clarity, natural sweetness, and clean finish that makes Korakundah immediately recognisable.
- 💊 Richest Antioxidant Profile in the Range — The altitude-concentration effect on polyphenols and EGCG is maximised at 2,400 metres. This is the most antioxidant-dense tea OotyMade offers.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Korakundah different from other Nilgiris teas in OotyMade’s range?
Altitude. At 2,400 metres, Korakundah is grown significantly higher than most Nilgiris estates (which average 1,500–2,100 metres). This extreme altitude produces a measurably different compound profile — more antioxidants, more natural sweetness, more aromatic intensity. It is India’s finest organic tea for a reason.
Are the tea bags biodegradable?
Please check the current packaging specifications at the time of purchase. OotyMade sources from Chamraj who maintain responsible packaging practices.
Is this suitable as a corporate or premium gift?
Yes — the Korakundah name is respected in premium tea circles. The organic certification and extreme altitude story make this an impressive gift for discerning recipients.
Why Nilgiris Tea is Different
Why Nilgiris Tea is Different
The Nilgiris — India's Blue
Mountains — grows tea at 6,000 feet above sea level, where the combination of
cool temperatures (15–20°C year-round), two annual monsoons, and mineral-rich
volcanic soil creates growing conditions found nowhere else in India.
At this altitude, tea plants
grow more slowly. Slower growth concentrates the natural compounds —
polyphenols, catechins, aromatic oils — that give Nilgiris tea its
characteristic brightness, natural sweetness, and clean, clear liquor.
What makes OotyMade's tea range
unique is traceability. We source from named estates — Kannavarai, Homewood,
Darmona, Homedale, Silver Oak — so you know exactly which garden your tea comes
from. No anonymous blends. No imported material. Just the Blue Mountains.
All teas are packed fresh at source and dispatched within 48 hours of
your order.

— Direct sunlight (degrades
chlorophyll and antioxidants)
