Single-estate Homewood black tea blended with real cardamom — the upgrade on your everyday elaichi chai that you never knew you were missing. The difference between generic cardamom tea and Homewood Cardamom Tea is the base: real single-estate Nilgiris CTC at altitude, not a commodity blend padded with filler.
The cardamom here is not flavouring. Real ground elaichi, blended at the Nilgiris factory in proportions that complement the natural brightness of Homewood tea rather than masking it.
- 🌿 Real Cardamom — Not Flavouring — Ground elaichi blended in, not artificial cardamom flavour or synthetic extract. The difference is immediate in both aroma and cup character.
- 🏔️ Homewood Estate Base — Single-Estate Nilgiris CTC at Altitude — The high-altitude briskness of Homewood tea makes the cardamom aroma more vivid and the cup more complex.
- ☕ Perfect Elaichi Chai — The combination that South Indian kitchens have been making for generations — just with a named-estate tea base instead of a commodity blend.
- 📦 Blended and Packed at the Nilgiris Factory — Not mixed elsewhere. The blending and packing happens at source in the Blue Mountains.
- 🎁 Excellent Gift Tea — The combination of estate origin + real spice makes this one of OotyMade’s most-gifted tea varieties.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How much cardamom is in the blend?
The cardamom-to-tea ratio is calibrated to complement rather than overpower the Homewood tea base — aromatic and present in every cup without dominating. If you prefer a stronger cardamom hit, brew slightly longer or add extra whole cardamom while simmering.
Is the Homewood Cardamom Tea different from the generic Nilgiris Cardamom Tea?
Yes — the base tea is different. The generic Nilgiris Cardamom Tea uses a blended Nilgiris base. Homewood Cardamom Tea uses specifically Homewood Estate single-estate CTC, which has its own distinct bold character that makes the cardamom combination more complex.
Why Nilgiris Tea is Different
Why Nilgiris Tea is Different
The Nilgiris — India's Blue
Mountains — grows tea at 6,000 feet above sea level, where the combination of
cool temperatures (15–20°C year-round), two annual monsoons, and mineral-rich
volcanic soil creates growing conditions found nowhere else in India.
At this altitude, tea plants
grow more slowly. Slower growth concentrates the natural compounds —
polyphenols, catechins, aromatic oils — that give Nilgiris tea its
characteristic brightness, natural sweetness, and clean, clear liquor.
What makes OotyMade's tea range
unique is traceability. We source from named estates — Kannavarai, Homewood,
Darmona, Homedale, Silver Oak — so you know exactly which garden your tea comes
from. No anonymous blends. No imported material. Just the Blue Mountains.
All teas are packed fresh at source and dispatched within 48 hours of
your order.

— Direct sunlight (degrades
chlorophyll and antioxidants)

surrounding aromas rapidly)
— Heat above 30 degrees Celsius
BEST PRACTICE: Transfer to a
ceramic or glass airtight container on receipt.
A dedicated tea tin stored in a
