In India, ginger tea is not optional. It is medicine, comfort, and ritual simultaneously.

OotyMade Nilgiris Ginger Tea is made with real dried organic ginger blended with estate-sourced Nilgiris CTC black tea. The ginger is genuine — not ginger flavouring — which is why the warmth spreads from the back of your throat and lingers. No artificial shortcuts. Just real ginger, real tea, real warmth.

🫚 REAL ORGANIC DRIED GINGER — not ginger essence or spray-applied ginger flavouring. Actual dried ginger (sonth) incorporated during tea processing. The sustained warmth it produces in the throat is unmistakably the real thing

🍃 NILGIRIS CTC BASE — the bold, bright estate tea provides structural backbone. Ginger and strong black tea are one of India's most time-tested flavour pairings — each enhances the other

🌿 ORGANIC GINGER — grown without synthetic pesticides. The ginger sourced for this blend meets organic standards — important for a product consumed daily at therapeutic levels

💊 MOST FUNCTIONAL TEA IN THE RANGE — ginger (gingerols, shogaols) is among the most researched medicinal ingredients in traditional and modern medicine. Anti-inflammatory, antiemetic, digestive, and immune-supportive properties all documented

THE TRADITIONAL COLD REMEDY — brewing ginger tea stronger than usual (double strength, no milk, with honey and lemon) is among India's oldest and most trusted home remedies for cold, cough, nausea, and sore throat

Q1: What are the health benefits of ginger tea?

Ginger contains gingerols and shogaols — bioactive compounds with documented anti-inflammatory, antiemetic (anti-nausea), antimicrobial, and digestive properties. Regular ginger tea consumption has been associated with reduced nausea, improved digestion, reduced inflammation, and immune support. Combined with Nilgiris black tea polyphenols, this is one of the most functionally rich teas in the OotyMade range.

Q2: Can I drink ginger tea for a cold?

Ginger tea is one of India's oldest and most trusted remedies for cold and flu symptoms. Brew double-strength without milk. Add honey (antibacterial, throat-soothing) and a squeeze of lemon (Vitamin C). Drink warm, 3–4 cups daily. The gingerols have documented antimicrobial action; the heat and steam provide decongestant benefit; the honey soothes inflamed tissue.

Q3: Is ginger tea safe for pregnant women?

Ginger in food and beverage quantities is widely considered safe during pregnancy and has extensive traditional use for morning sickness relief. However, this tea also contains caffeine from the Nilgiris black tea base. Please consult your doctor about appropriate caffeine intake during pregnancy.

Q4: How much ginger warmth should I expect?

Noticeable but not intense. This is a blended tea designed for daily enjoyment — not a medicinal ginger shot. The warmth builds gradually in the throat after swallowing and lingers pleasantly. For more intensity, use slightly more tea powder or simmer for longer.

Q5: Is ginger tea good for digestion?

Yes — one of ginger's best-documented properties. Gingerols stimulate bile production and gastric motility, reducing bloating, gas, and discomfort after meals. A cup of OotyMade Nilgiris Ginger Tea after lunch or dinner is a traditional and scientifically supported digestive aid.

Why Nilgiris Tea is Different

The Nilgiris — India's Blue
Mountains — grows tea at 6,000 feet above sea level, where the combination of
cool temperatures (15–20°C year-round), two annual monsoons, and mineral-rich
volcanic soil creates growing conditions found nowhere else in India.

At this altitude, tea plants
grow more slowly. Slower growth concentrates the natural compounds —
polyphenols, catechins, aromatic oils — that give Nilgiris tea its
characteristic brightness, natural sweetness, and clean, clear liquor.

What makes OotyMade's tea range
unique is traceability. We source from named estates — Kannavarai, Homewood,
Darmona, Homedale, Silver Oak — so you know exactly which garden your tea comes
from. No anonymous blends. No imported material. Just the Blue Mountains.

All teas are packed fresh at source and dispatched within 48 hours of
your order.

Brewing Guide:

How to Brew the Perfect Cup

 FOR MILK CHAI
(Traditional Indian Method):

1. Add 200ml water to a saucepan
and bring to boil

2. Add 1 heaped teaspoon (3–4g)
of tea powder

3. Simmer for 2–3 minutes on
medium heat

4. Add 50–75ml full-fat milk

5. Simmer for 1 more minute

6. Add sugar to taste, strain,
and serve immediately

FOR BLACK TEA
(Plain, Without Milk):

1. Heat water to 90–95 degrees
Celsius (just below boiling)

2. Add 1 teaspoon tea powder per
200ml

3. Steep for 2–3 minutes maximum

4. Strain immediately into your
cup

5. Add lemon or honey if desired
— never milk with black tea

FOR ICED TEA:

1. Brew double-strength (2
teaspoons per 200ml)

2. Steep for 3 minutes

3. Strain directly over a glass
full of ice

4. Add lemon slices and honey

Nilgiris tea stays crystal clear when iced — no cloudiness.

Freshness and Storage

Freshness, Storage and Shelf
Life

 SHELF LIFE: 12–18 months from
packing date when stored correctly.

All tea is packed fresh at
source and vacuum-sealed or airtight-sealed before dispatch.

 STORAGE: Store in an airtight
container in a cool, dry place away from:

— Direct sunlight (degrades
chlorophyll and antioxidants)

— Moisture (causes mold and
off-flavors)

— Strong odours (tea absorbs
surrounding aromas rapidly)

— Heat above 30 degrees Celsius

BEST PRACTICE: Transfer to a
ceramic or glass airtight container on receipt.

A dedicated tea tin stored in a
kitchen cabinet is ideal.

SIGNS OF FRESHNESS: Fresh Nilgiris
tea has a bright, clean aroma on opening.

If the aroma has faded
significantly, the tea is past its prime — though still safe to consume.

DISPATCH: All OotyMade teas are dispatched within 48 hours of order
confirmation.
