Sharp citrus. Clean tea. Perfect balance.
Nilgiris Lime Tea is the most refreshing hot beverage in the OotyMade range — bright, citrus-forward Nilgiris black tea that wakes up the palate, soothes the throat, and refreshes entirely differently from plain tea.
Served hot on a cool Nilgiris morning or iced on a hot Chennai afternoon — this tea works in every season, in every direction.
🍋 NATURAL LIME — not citric acid, not lime essence. Real dried lime incorporated into the blend during processing. The citrus note is rounded and integrated, not sharp or artificial
🍃 NILGIRIS BLACK TEA BASE — the bright, clean character of Nilgiris estate tea provides the ideal foundation for lime — neither too heavy (which would clash) nor too light (which would disappear under the citrus)
🌿 BEST ICED TEA CANDIDATE IN THE RANGE — Nilgiris tea stays perfectly clear when chilled, making it the ideal iced tea base. Lime Tea iced, with honey and a fresh lime slice, is exceptional
💊 VITAMIN C + ANTIOXIDANTS — the combination of Nilgiris tea polyphenols and natural lime Vitamin C creates a genuinely functional beverage. Research shows Vitamin C increases catechin absorption by up to 13x
☕ CALMING THROAT REMEDY — lime and tea together have a long tradition in South Indian home remedy usage for sore throats, coughs, and early cold symptoms. This blend makes that remedy genuinely pleasant to drink
Q1: How do I make iced lime tea with this product?
Brew double-strength (2 teaspoons per 200ml) at 90°C for 3 minutes. Strain immediately over a glass filled with ice. The Nilgiris tea will stay perfectly clear — no cloudiness. Add honey to taste and a slice of fresh lime. Serve immediately. Arguably the best iced tea available from an Indian tea brand.
Q2: Is lime tea good for a sore throat?
The combination of black tea tannins (astringent, antimicrobial), lime Vitamin C (immune support), and warmth makes this tea a pleasant and traditionally supported remedy for throat discomfort. Brew slightly stronger than usual, add honey (additional antibacterial properties), and drink warm.
Q3: Does the lime taste artificial?
No. OotyMade Nilgiris Lime Tea uses natural dried lime incorporated during blending. The lime note is present, recognisable, and genuinely citrus-forward — but rounded rather than sharp. If you are familiar with artificially flavoured fruit teas from mass-market brands, this will taste noticeably different — more integrated and less candy-like.
Q4: Can I add milk to lime tea?
We strongly advise against it. Milk curdles when combined with acidic ingredients like lime. Lime tea is best consumed plain (hot or iced) with honey as the only addition.
Q5: Is lime tea good for weight management?
Lime tea is a zero-calorie beverage (before adding sweetener) with catechins (which research associates with metabolic support) and Vitamin C. Replacing high-calorie beverages with lime tea is a practical approach to reducing calorie intake without sacrificing the pleasure of a flavoured hot drink.
Why Nilgiris Tea is Different
Why Nilgiris Tea is Different
The Nilgiris — India's Blue
Mountains — grows tea at 6,000 feet above sea level, where the combination of
cool temperatures (15–20°C year-round), two annual monsoons, and mineral-rich
volcanic soil creates growing conditions found nowhere else in India.
At this altitude, tea plants
grow more slowly. Slower growth concentrates the natural compounds —
polyphenols, catechins, aromatic oils — that give Nilgiris tea its
characteristic brightness, natural sweetness, and clean, clear liquor.
What makes OotyMade's tea range
unique is traceability. We source from named estates — Kannavarai, Homewood,
Darmona, Homedale, Silver Oak — so you know exactly which garden your tea comes
from. No anonymous blends. No imported material. Just the Blue Mountains.
All teas are packed fresh at source and dispatched within 48 hours of
your order.

— Direct sunlight (degrades
chlorophyll and antioxidants)
