GLENDALE Green Tea - 150 Years of Green Tea Heritage

Experience the purity and wellness of GLENDALE Green Tea, a premium high-grown Nilgiris green tea from one of the region's most prestigious estates with 150 years of tea-making heritage. This exceptional organic green tea delivers rich antioxidants, delicate flavor, and the distinctive character that only a historic estate can provide.

Glendale Estate - 150 Years of Tea Heritage:

Established in the 1870s, Glendale Tea Estate is one of the oldest and most renowned tea gardens in the Nilgiri Hills. Nestled at elevations between 1,700-2,200 meters, this historic estate has been producing exceptional teas for over a century and a half. The estate's rich heritage, combined with the cool mountain climate, misty mornings, and volcanic soil, creates ideal conditions for cultivating premium organic green tea with exceptional antioxidant content and delicate flavor.

Organic High-Grown Excellence:

Our GLENDALE Green Tea is grown organically at high elevations, where the cool mountain climate and pristine environment naturally protect the tea bushes from pests, reducing the need for chemical interventions. The high-elevation terroir imparts exceptional quality—tea leaves grown at higher altitudes develop more slowly, concentrating their natural antioxidants, polyphenols, and delicate flavors.

Traditional Green Tea Processing:

Unlike oxidized black teas, our green tea undergoes minimal processing to preserve its natural green color, fresh character, and maximum antioxidant content. Skilled tea artisans at Glendale Estate carefully process each batch using traditional methods perfected over 150 years, ensuring the leaves retain their beneficial catechins, vitamins, and aromatic compounds. This artisanal approach results in a green tea with exceptional purity and health benefits.

Flavor Profile - Pure & Refreshing:

Experience the delicate, refreshing character of premium Nilgiris green tea. GLENDALE Green Tea delivers a smooth, slightly sweet cup with fresh grassy notes and subtle vegetal undertones. The clean, crisp finish and naturally sweet aftertaste make it perfect for enjoying plain or with a touch of honey. The high-grown terroir imparts a unique elegance and refinement.

Why Nilgiris Tea is Different

The Nilgiris — India's Blue
Mountains — grows tea at 6,000 feet above sea level, where the combination of
cool temperatures (15–20°C year-round), two annual monsoons, and mineral-rich
volcanic soil creates growing conditions found nowhere else in India.

At this altitude, tea plants
grow more slowly. Slower growth concentrates the natural compounds —
polyphenols, catechins, aromatic oils — that give Nilgiris tea its
characteristic brightness, natural sweetness, and clean, clear liquor.

What makes OotyMade's tea range
unique is traceability. We source from named estates — Kannavarai, Homewood,
Darmona, Homedale, Silver Oak — so you know exactly which garden your tea comes
from. No anonymous blends. No imported material. Just the Blue Mountains.

All teas are packed fresh at source and dispatched within 48 hours of
your order.

Brewing Guide:

How to Brew the Perfect Cup

 FOR MILK CHAI
(Traditional Indian Method):

1. Add 200ml water to a saucepan
and bring to boil

2. Add 1 heaped teaspoon (3–4g)
of tea powder

3. Simmer for 2–3 minutes on
medium heat

4. Add 50–75ml full-fat milk

5. Simmer for 1 more minute

6. Add sugar to taste, strain,
and serve immediately

FOR BLACK TEA
(Plain, Without Milk):

1. Heat water to 90–95 degrees
Celsius (just below boiling)

2. Add 1 teaspoon tea powder per
200ml

3. Steep for 2–3 minutes maximum

4. Strain immediately into your
cup

5. Add lemon or honey if desired
— never milk with black tea

FOR ICED TEA:

1. Brew double-strength (2
teaspoons per 200ml)

2. Steep for 3 minutes

3. Strain directly over a glass
full of ice

4. Add lemon slices and honey

Nilgiris tea stays crystal clear when iced — no cloudiness.

Freshness and Storage

Freshness, Storage and Shelf
Life

 SHELF LIFE: 12–18 months from
packing date when stored correctly.

All tea is packed fresh at
source and vacuum-sealed or airtight-sealed before dispatch.

 STORAGE: Store in an airtight
container in a cool, dry place away from:

— Direct sunlight (degrades
chlorophyll and antioxidants)

— Moisture (causes mold and
off-flavors)

— Strong odours (tea absorbs
surrounding aromas rapidly)

— Heat above 30 degrees Celsius

BEST PRACTICE: Transfer to a
ceramic or glass airtight container on receipt.

A dedicated tea tin stored in a
kitchen cabinet is ideal.

SIGNS OF FRESHNESS: Fresh Nilgiris
tea has a bright, clean aroma on opening.

If the aroma has faded
significantly, the tea is past its prime — though still safe to consume.

DISPATCH: All OotyMade teas are dispatched within 48 hours of order
confirmation.
